Did anybody else watch the NBC Nightly News last night? There was an article about a new tactic for Islamic Terrorists in Iraq 'posing' as US soldiers and posting a video diary containing photos of a soldier with a voiceover making it look like this soldier was questioning his being there. This video apparently was all over the internet, including YouTube. Unfortunately, I can't remember the soldier's name, but the video claims that the soldier was killed, but in reality is still alive and "strongly supports the War!"
The article claimed that this particular soldier's hard drive was stolen and this is how the insurgents were able to get photos of him and his buddies horsing around in Iraq.
Supposedly, this new tactic is designed to undermine our Glorious Mission to Liberate Iraq (from what, their oil, maybe?)by targeting 'weak-minded Americans' who don't support Bush's war, by posing as Liberal American war protestors.
At first, I thougt, well, this is pretty sneaky of those darned insurgents! Then it hit me.
If insurgents are setting up anti-war websites and blogs posing as Progressive Americans, how will Homeland Security know the difference between a 'real' American progressive and a 'fake' one? Would they even bother?
Wouldn't it be easier to simply shut down ALL bloggers and sites that question the war than worry weather they are posted by 'real' Americans or forigen posers?
I can just imagine Homeland Security goons salivating at this perfect excuse to shut down ALL dissent, not just on the internet, but everywhere. For our own protection, of course.
So, what is propaganda, here, the insurgents allegedly creating fake anti-war blogs or an American news article implying that anybody who protests the war might really be a terrorist covertly undermining American resolve?
I hope I'm not just being silly, here.
