You have to love John Conyers, he's still not taking any crap.
The chair of the House Judiciary Committee and Rep. Jerrold Nadler, chair of the subcommittee on Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, have taken pen in hand to warn Vice President Dick Cheney to keep his nose out of any further discussions regarding his pal Scooter Libby...
...in light of your personal involvment in the facts that gave rise to the charges against Mr. Libby, and your apparent stake in a favorable outcome for him, we strongly urge that you recuse yourself from any further involvement -direct or indirect, official or unofficial, in any future issues that relate to his prosecution.

note: I briefly updated this with what I thought was pertinent information, however, I've deleted the update as it was not supportable by facts.
(I've attempted several times to edit the title back to the original but it's not sticking and the update title still appears)
my apologies.
Conyers and Nadler are steamed at Cheney's highly inappropriate statement released following Scooter's sentencing hearing on June 6th.
Scooter has dedicated much of his life to public service at the State Department, the Department of Defense and the White House. In each of these assignments he has served the nation tirelessly and with great distinction. I relied on him heavily in my capacity as Secretary of Defense and as Vice President. I have always considered him to be a man of the highest intellect, judgment and personal integrity—a man fully committed to protecting the vital security interests of the United States and its citizens. Scooter is also a friend, and on a personal level Lynne and I remain deeply saddened by this tragedy and its effect on his wife, Harriet, and their young children. The defense has indicated it plans to appeal the conviction in the case. Speaking as friends, we hope that our system will return a final result consistent with what we know of this fine man.

The Judiciary chairs let Darth Cheney know just how they feel:
As the Federal Prosecutor stated in his closing argument, the evidence at trial revealed that there was "a cloud" over certain aspects of your conduct. Accordingly, your comments may be seen as blurring the distinction between the institutional interests of the Office of Vice President and your personal interests in the ultimate results of the prosecution.
The letter of June 7 continues:
...your comments would appear particularly inappropriate because post-trial proceedings are ongoing....The Executive Branch must speak through one voice on matters of criminal prosecution...
The best part:
We would hope that a sitting Vice President would not suggest that the Government seeks any result other than that sought by the prosecutors representing the Department of Justice, or imply that the decisions of the trial court - both as to the validity of the verdict or the proper sentence- should be undone.
It's clear to see the impetus now for the gang of Law Scholars to question the authority of the prosecutor.
Cheney cannot keep his hands off this mess and I'm sure Conyers sees his fingerprints all over it.
This is not over by a long stretch. You have to wonder how close Conyers is to a decision on impeaching the bastard?
