Vote for Columbus and help create a new dialogue around the issues plaguing rural America! www.whynotcolumbusky.com
Two weeks ago I entered my town, Columbus, KY, pop. 229, in a contest that allows users to "demand" that presidential candidate John Edwards come to their town. The competition is being sponsored by Eventful.com. Senator Edwards will visit the town with the most votes.
I started this movement because too often rural America is left out of the important policy debates on issues facing our country. While candidates often drop into metropolitan areas for fundraisers, they usually never see rural communities to talk about the problems we face everyday– higher unemployment rates, lower access to healthcare and lower access to technology.

I am happy to tell you that Columbus is now leading the competition, but we still need your help. Large metropolitan areas have gotten word of the competition and now are starting to catch up. In fact, Los Angeles – population 4 million – has begun organizing and received over 200 votes yesterday alone.
Please help us create a new dialogue and ideas around the problems facing rural America by voting for Columbus at www.whynotcolumbusky.com. While Columbus has a population of only a couple hundred people, our constituency represents the tens of millions of people who live in small towns and rural counties all across the country. Help us send a strong message to our national leaders that rural America will no longer be ignored!
I appreciate any support you can offer by passing this along to as many people as you can, posting on blogs, or utilizing any other creative medium you know of!
Thanks so much for being a part of the movement.
