A major explosion occurred today in midtown Manhattan and while it looks it was not terrorist related there are a few lessons that have not been learned from 9/11.
Lesson 1: The New York Fire Department needs to have helicopters to survey the scene of emergencies. They did not on 9/11 and did not as of today which meant it took over an hour before they could get use of a NYPD helicopter to do the same.
Lesson 2: People and emergency response teams were in the area with a concern of toxic air but some were wearing gear and others were not. Should they have not all gotten gear to wear?
Lesson 3: Radios on 9/11 did not work underground and could not communicate between the NYPD and FDNY...this still is the case?
When will we learn and figure out a way to properly respond to emergencies such as this terror related or not?
