The opening of the NYT article says, "Twenty soldiers deployed to Iraq from this Army base were killed in May, a monthly high. That same month, the base announced a change in how it would honor its dead: instead of units holding services after each death, they would be held collectively once a month."

I am a member of several military affiliated forums and I can't tell you how insane it is that (some of) the women on them (though less and less) repeatedly show support for both this administration and this war. Though intent on cutting both veteran and retiree benefits as well as screwing over the active duty and reserve military members, this administration still bills itself as the only real supporter of the troops.
The people dying in this war have names, families, and individual stories. They deserve more, and our respect for them DEMANDS more than such a heinously cold, calculating move on behalf of our government.
