After watching his first choice for governor Anne Northup get crushed in the Republican primary, Mitch McConnell, who has an all-time-high disapproval rate and an all-time-low approval rate, will take to the stump for his second choice for governor, corrupt Ernie Fletcher.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- Gov. Ernie Fletcher didn't get Mitch McConnell's blessing in the spring primary, but he'll soon get a campaign boost from the influential Republican senator.
McConnell, the Senate minority leader, said Monday he expects to spend part of the August congressional recess campaigning in Kentucky for Fletcher, who is trying to rebound from his one-time indictment in a hiring scandal that ended with a negotiated deal with prosecutors.
For their sake, I hope they are planning to target the base because it seems among the general public these two are in a race to the bottom in terms of approval ratings.
As McConnell’s approval ratings fall below the magic 50%, he is beginning to realize that he will need a Republican governor next fall when he is trying to defend his vulnerable seat. The Senator should of thought of that before he hopped on the Anne Northup Express, which turned out to be one of the biggest Republican train wrecks in years.
However, this is good for news for the Dems. Everyone, please tape and take as many pictures as possible of McConnell endorsing, hugging, and hand shaking with Ernie Fletcher. It will be great to remind voters next November the kind of people McConnell surrounds himself with: one of the most unpopular and corrupt governors in state history and an unpopular President who has the country bogged down in an expensive and ill-conceived war with no exit strategy.
Classic McConnell.
