Something has been nagging at me about that Wead interview that was leaked a few days ago.
Specifically, it was the comments where Bush stated that he would not "kick gays, because I'm a sinner. How can I differentiate sin?" and also where he clarified his own position on employing gays when he stated "No, what I said was, I wouldn't fire gays,".
Many have naturally cast suspicions on the timing of the release of this material as a ploy by RoveCo to deflect attention away from the growing Gannon story and also to cast the Boy King in a more flattering compassionate light. All well and good.
But let's ask the question: WHY would he say those things in the first place? We have to take on face value that he made those statements, they're on tape after all, right?
But what motivated him to make those (for him) quite risky and potentially alienating comments.
Let's step back for a moment and examine the mind of George W. Bush (this won't take very long I promise you).
This is a man who doesn't have a scintilla of a notion of fairness and justice in his entire being.
His administration and entire network of friendships and political alliances is founded on one thing and one thing only: Unswerving blind loyalty.
Loyalty and devotion is what has got him to the Presidency and he in return has rewarded those that are loyal to him by setting up long time pals in plum positions in his cabinet (Abu Gonzalez being a great example), choice Ambassadorships overseas and lucrative profiteering positions in Iraq.
If this man does anything, he does it not out of of some noble sense of justice but because it serves him well or his friends well.
That he made statements sympathetic to gays is significant because he had little to gain from such comments and much to lose among his natural constituency.
No, he made those comments out of loyalty to someone. Someone close. And the fact that he made those statements, BEFORE he was President narrows down the list of candidates that we can speculate on.
Ponder what I've written and then consider this statement today by the Bloogeyman that caught my eye
"Yes, the White House knew who he was, hooker and all, and wanted him there. The hard truth is: Jeff Gannon was in the White House because he was a gay hooker, not in spite of being a gay hooker."

I will end with this snippet by the Nashua Advocate which employs the novel device of "interviewing" an article about Rove from 2003
Alright, let's cut to the chase. Is Rove gay?
"Rove, recalling his first meeting with George W. Bush, said] I can literally remember what he [Bush] was wearing: an Air National Guard flight jacket, cowboy boots, bulletins, complete with the--in Texas you see it a lot--one of the back pockets will have a circle worn in the pocket from where you carry your tin of snuff, your tin of tobacco. He was exuding more charisma than any one individual should be allowed to have."
