So, now Matt Stoller wants a "conversation" about John and Elizabeth Edwards being "a little racist" and how they "owe" a blogger an explanation of why John's campaign isn't "gaining traction" in the AA community.
Please, somebody throw me a bone here. I've read Stoller's diary and David Mizner's diary and I recommended one of them: David Mizner's.
Matt Stoller is a little uncomfortable with Edwards? Can't quite get a bead on it and so offers up "a little bit racist" as his reasoning? Well, I'm a whole lot chapped.
Allow me to digress a bit. Elizabeth Edwards made some comments which the media cherry picked out of context. One of the many wonderful things about Elizabeth is that she is candid and honest. Of course, that makes for great cherry picking for those oh so superb morsels of bullshit and bat feathers. Personally, I love her candor, there is way too little of it around anymore.
So, off we go. Everybody has a dog in the hunt! OMG, Elizabeth Edwards is whiny, racist.... Baloney. She's honest, a rare commodity in today's political scene. What Elizabeth said, when read in context, is spot on. We live in a nation of sound bite lovers who absolutely pounced on her statements, taken out of context.
David Mizner called Matt Stoller on what he wrote and Matt is acting like he wants a conversation. The trouble is, his diary wasn't written in a way to encourage a conversation. It was a self-justifying diatribe. Me, I'm sick to death of mouthpieces justifying their existence. We have plenty of those folks in the M$M, we don't need another one. Not even one.
And while I'm venting, let me tell you, I am sick of reading about Edwards supporters on this site. The last time I checked, we were permitted to write about whatever we wanted to, exceptions being no name calling in the title of the diary and no impersonating another person.
Yes, I support John Edwards, and proudly so. I have no illusions that he is perfect, have never said so. I do think, in my heart of hearts, that John is our best hope to start moving our nation in the right direction. And let me tell you, before 2004, I had never made a donation to a political candidate, but when I found John Edwards I did so for the first time. I'm still here four years later.
In conclusion, something from my heart. I know John and Elizabeth Edwards. No way are they "a little" racist or in any way racist. I am sickened to have that comment standing anywhere and think you, Matt Stoller, owe them both an apology. I hope you are man enough to offer one.
