WDFA, Dean Internet Campaing Radio, has as their special guest on the show this afternoon,
Professor George Lakoff.
Every Democrat who can manage to listen to streaming radio should probably listen to this. Yeah, there'll be a lot of Dean chatter, but Professor Lakoff and his ideas will be critical to all of our successes in taking this country back from the nutty Right.
Professor Lakoff is a founding member of The Rockridge Institute.
Says BFA:
On our Sunday afternoon radio call-in show, our guest will be eminent linguist George Lakoff, Professor of Linguistics at the University of California, Berkeley and a Senior Fellow at the Rockridge Institute, a "group of distinguished scholars and researchers working to help achieve a just, democratic, environmentally sustainable, and humane society."
Governor Dean has cited Prof. Lakoff as one his major influences, and he is the author of the influential book, Moral Politics: How Liberals and Conservatives Think, which has become a must-read for progressive thinkers. Prof. Lakoff is widely recognized as one of the major scholars in cognitive linguistics and is well known for his ideas about the centrality of metaphor to human thinking and society.
Moral Politics focuses on the importance of framing in politics and examines the different ways in which progressives and conservatives view the world. Republicans have been very successful in establishing conservative frames like "tax relief" and "death tax." Prof. Lakoff has been working with colleagues on developing our own set of progressive frames.
Join us Sunday at 4 p.m. Eastern to hear Zephyr and Nicco interview Prof. Lakoff and send us your questions
