I got a form letter from the Dean Campaign today. It says, in part:
I love politics and I enjoy campaigning. I don't mind the long hours, invasive media, heckling crowds - even the personal attacts don't outweigh the important opportunity to debate vitally important issues and share my dreams for the country with the thousands of voters I have met all across the country.
I can honestly say that there are only two things I dn't really like about campaigning.
The first is telling long-time supporters that I am no longer in the race; and the second is going over the campaign's budget.
I am writing you because you have been a good and loyal friend and I need to tell you personally of the decision to withdraw my name from the 2004 Democratic Presidential Nomination Process.
This race is over for me.
All in all, it's still a classy gesture from a classy guy.
