This story just hit my radar screen, and I'm embarrassed to say I didn't learn about it earlier.
I don't know if any amount of rational arguement or pleading will be able to convince Governor Perry that this is too disgusting even for Texas, but we need to try.
Third execution in 3 days set for Texas
Tonight, Kenneth Foster is scheduled to die because back in 1996 he and a bunch of his buddies got drunk and high, and one of them decided to rob and murder a passerby. By returning to Foster's car after the murder and driving away, Foster was charged under a unique Texas law called "the law of parties."
A Federal Circuit Court overruled a District Court's overturning of the death penalty because, as the court said Foster "should have anticipated" the murder.
So everyone, watch out. If you know anyone who has ever killed anyone, and that person then got into your car, used your phone, borrowed money from you, or in any other way associated with you, and you FAILED TO READ THEIR MIND, then you too can be charged with a capital crime and executed in Texas.
In the meantime, Foster is scheduled to die TONIGHT. Maybe if there is another outrage, we can stop it.
