Listen to what John Ensign (R-NV) actually said about whether Larry Craig should resign:
"I wouldn't put myself hopefully in that kind of position, but if I was in a position like that, that's what I would do," Ensign told The Associated Press in his home state.
What?! So, John Ensign "hopefully" wouldn't solicit sex in an airport bathroom? Did I read that right? Have I taken leave of my senses?
But what's truly amazing is that this is what it takes for the Republicans discover empathy. We saw the same with Bush's incredible plaint that his buddy Alberto's name had been "dragged through the mud." Oh, the humanity.
It's just perverse. I just can't seem to wrap my head around this newfound Republican ability to sympathize. Is this what it looks like when the party of Barbara Katrina's-sure-working-out-well-for-the-poor Bush discovers empathy?
Just a "my jaw is dropping through the floor" rant. Still I can only wonder what they'll come up with next. . .
