Jeremy Hernandez, the 20-year-old who helped save dozens of children in last week's bridge collapse in Minneapolis, was offered a full scholarship by the Dunwoody College of Technology.
He has also been contacted by people across the country who have admired his bravery and wished to help him, as he was forced to drop out of his previous educational program because he could not afford the $15,000 tuition.
He was also contacted by President Bush's staff for a photo-op.
Here's what he said:
Nope
Now, the article does make mention that he was not too keen of all of the publicity he was getting and wished to remain out of the spotlight.
But it is interesting to wonder why his response to Bush was so short. Maybe his relatives have been affected by right-wing efforts to hermetically seal the country. Maybe it was the fact that he was unable to afford $15,000 for an automotive repair course because he was unable to receive any financial aid.
Short diary. Will flesh out as more details emerge.
