I have been actively blogging here at Dkos for the past three years. I know that the community of blogoshphere is where I reach out to, for ideas, real news and intelligent discourse. I want to get a YDA chapter running in my town. Apparently there have been two people that tried to start one, ran a couple of happy hours and over the past two months let it die. I think that the concept of YDA is wonderful. Getting young people involved in local politics. I believe that having young people in office and actually caring about what will happen is the only way to ensure that the overton window never goes back to where towns are actually discussing whether not creationism is science. I know that within the blogoshpere that discussion will not happen. Darksyde would blind you with science. At any rate, I reached out to the CT liberal blog site, My Left Nutmeg, and I am apparently an embarrassment.
I posted a short diary, essentially a comment. It said, hey I am starting a YDA chapter in north central CT. If there is anybody in the area please contact me via my email address. I have gotten chastised for reaching out to the perfect demographic for YDA. I was told that if I wanted to do something like that, that I should get permission first. HUH, WHAT??? The three towns that would be involved in my YDA have a total population of approximately 70,000 people, as of July 2006. The two people that were making an attempt at starting a YDA couldn't get enough people to make a commitment to start an official YDA chapter. I reach out to a group of people that is intelligent, is obviously politically aware to get some of them, and I am told that I am an embarrassment. What exactly did I do wrong?
I feel like I am being attacked by Liebercrats. People that are entrenched in politics and don't want to give up power. Which is why Lieberman ran an an independent. He refused to see that the will of the people ousted him in the Democratic primary. I reached out to those who are truly progressive and I get an email telling me that I must run things by others, in order to do them. When, exactly, by being a member of the YDA did I give up freedom of speech? I wish I understood where my errors were. Perhaps people here can help me understand. I appreciate your input.
