Hells, yes.
Check out my title...it is the perfect FOXy manipulation, something we see used everyday by this wretched network. Disguised as a simple innocuous question (there IS a question mark there, after all), we barely realize the subtle judgment nudge we are receiving, simply by the suggestion. Those guys at FOX? GENIUSES!
How else could they broach such controversial topics unless presented as a question, and still have some weasel room?
Neil Cavuto, you sly FOX!
Here's why I'm writing this. I've had it up to my eyeballs with this tactic being used by the good netizens of Dailykos. I see it almost daily, and I grow weary. Disregarding the obvious example at the top of the Rec List (which bugs me), it is becoming a growing phenomenon with the primary diaries in particular. And it is weaselly. If you want to make a statement, just say it. I am tired of the question mark disclaimer. I have more respect for the diarist who simply states her unpopular and potentially harmful opinion without the wiggle room.
A few quickly searched examples of late:
Is Obama the Perot of the Democratic Primary? Foxy!
Is Hillary's campaign encouraging states to break party rules? Foxtastic!
Is Hillary Fit for Command? Three guesses how the diarist answered that...
This same method works for alarmism. It's an electrical way to draw viewers while still leaving the author a defense against the opinion she suggests. I should know, I click on all those stupid diaries like so much fly to dangly flystrip.
This is as close as I'll come to a rant. I just wish people would pay more attention to how how this shit can color your judgment even before anything else is read, and I also wish for more honest posting in general.
