I've been reading and making the occasional comments here for about six months now. This is my first attempt at a diary, so like a first-time caller on C-Span, I'm a little nervous and hope that everyone will be kind.
I have always been impressed by the level of passion, intelligence, and level of commitment expressed by the many people who post at DKos.
More in the extended:
That said, I have also been concerned that the time and effort put into all of the posting and reading here, and at other sites, could be better used, particularly in this critical election year, by getting off our collective rear ends and working for a candidate? So, today, I want to ask each of you in your comments, who are YOU going to campaign for between now and November, who's the opponent, what's the district/race status now, and anything else you want to tell about your plans for this campaign season?
My plans are still up in the air because I'm in a state (Georgia)with no Senate race, most of the House races in the Atlanta area are in very safe districts and therefore, not competitive, and it's beginning to look like most of the state-wide races aren't very competitive. The Lt. Gov. race is one race that could be significant - especially if Ralph Reed convinces enough of the Christian Coalition crowd that he has repented his (Abramoff) sins. And there are a number of state senate and general assembly races to select from where I could work.
However, I have made one firm commitment - I am not teaching during the summer semesters and will instead spend my time working to elect a/any progressive Democrat in November.
What are you willing to commit to doing?
