I’m an Edwards fan. I’m irritated by the lack of media coverage of Edwards’ candidacy, pre- and post-Iowa. It seems every media commentator jumps from Obama to Clinton (do not stop at Edwards!) in their assessment of Democratic Party dynamics.
I only catch snippets of John Edwards speeches (I don’t have cable TV and thus am limited to regular TV & web). I observe the most often covered lines from Edwards are about "fighting corporate influence in our government" or some such variant.
Well, I just don’t think it’s connecting. I agree that corporate interests are calling most of the shots, but I don’t think Edwards words are connecting. So, I suggest Edwards team hit the thesaurus and start retooling his stump speech ASAP. In particular, I think Edwards is playing corporations wrong.
I heard a story about Huckabee today saying something about retooling national tax policy. He is obviously shifting his message to suit New Hampshire voters. John Edwards needs to do the same.
It’s my opinion that Americans are frequently PROUD of some of their corporations. Some of their corporations represent American ingenuity and our national strength (i.e. Apple Computers, Levi Strauss, Coca Cola, Harley Davidson, Etc.). As just one person, I feel that Edwards should flesh out HOW corporations are corrupting our system of government. Simply attacking corporations isn’t doing it.
I think John Edwards is a great candidate and the best hope for winning the white house for Dems but I think he is stuck on a set of words that are not working. So let’s help the Edward folks out with some constructive criticism.
How do you think John Edwards could tweak his message to better connect with New Hampshire voters?
