This diary is written for all my fellow Edwards supporters out there. I know things have been bad, but we should all be holding our heads high. One thing I can say for my fellow Edwards supporters, is that we represent something very good for this party. We fight on through everything for what we believe.
If you think, this whole primary we have been bombarded with polls and a media blackout all meant to discourage us and convince us that our vision for this country is wrong. We have constantly been bombarded with story after story all seemingly created to ignore us, or make us change our colors.
All through this sickening display we are calling a primary, we have constantly fought for a vision, not just a generality. We have watched in horror as the other supposed option for change has moulded himself into a Conservative Democrat, whose only difference from Hillary Clinton is that now he is to the right of her. We have demanded our candidate fight for us, and our party, and through it all he has. He has been the sane voice that keeps our party somewhere near their roots.
A lot of us have been fighting for these things our whole lives. But better yet, we are the ones who have realized the awful price our party has paid for their capitulation and constant cowardice trying to adopt right wing views. We are a voice in the dark while our party makes mistake after mistake.
So while I don't vote until May, I can tell you without reserve that I will still be voting for John Edwards in our primary if I have to write him in. I will not support our current system of electing leaders because I don't believe that just a few states should have so much power. I don't believe in Indies and Repugs voting in the Democratic Primary and I don't believe that leaders should be decided by anything but a secret ballot. Our Democracy suffers when it is.
For that reason I have cancelled my Democracy Bond. It is not right for someone to pay his hard earned money to support such a flawed system they don't believe in. Any of you who believe this system of nominating leaders should spend your money to rebuild our party. I refuse to rebuild a Democratic Party that believes Indies and Repugs have more say than me.
This is not a shot at Howard Dean, who is the best DNC chair we have had in a long time. The system was in place when he came, but it is broken now, and needs to be replaced. When that happens I will be more than happy to support our Party at the national level again. Until then I will only be donating to individual candidates who share my vision for this country.
That being said, to my fellow Edwards supporters who aren't giving up I say thanks for being there all these long months. We have fought against astronomical odds and held true to what we believe. Nothing in this life is more important than doing that. You have won my admiration and respect!! Now lets keep fighting, we have to fight centrism within our party, and Conservatism without. It is a grueling fight, but someone has to stand for what our party was founded on.
