Finally, a Democrat to challenge Denny "Do-nuthin" Rehberg (MT-AL). According to an AP story here Helena attorney Jim Hunt is planning a Tuesday announcement.
News reports say "Hunt, the son of former state Supreme Court Justice William Hunt, owns a law firm and works primarily in civil law. This is his first run for public office.
Hunt grew up in Chester, graduated from high school in Helena and earned undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Montana. He also spent 23 years in the Montana Army National Guard."
I like him already. A vet and, according to his bio on his law firm's web site, a Shakespearean actor! Hook this man up!!
We've been without a candidate since Bill Kennedy, a county commissioner from Billings, dropped out last fall for health reasons. Many of us think Rehberg is vulnerable this year and are eager to work like hell for anyone willing make the run.
For those who don't know about our mustachioed shmo of a congressman, "Do-Nuthin" Rehberg is the 12th richest member of the House, and votes with President George W. Bush 92 percent of the time.
From the WaPo regarding a Rehberg junket last year:
The trip has caused something of a headache for Rep. Denny Rehberg (R-Mont.) -- and not just from the wine. (Rehberg, some readers may recall, took a taxpayer-funded congressional delegation trip several years ago to Kazakhstan, where, after drinking several shots of vodka, he fell off a horse, got trampled by another, broke his ribs and allegedly called the locals "coneheads.")
Good grief. How embarrassing.
C'mon folks, let's cowboy up and help Jim Hunt send "Do-Nuthin Denny" back to Billings so he can make another fortune subdividing Montana ranchland.
