We all know people should be judged on their own character, but in the real world, people are judged by one thing... the company they keep. Some things have come to light that cause me great concern for all the Democrats at DailyKos, an association that you might pooh pooh but which the powers that be and the normal, ordinary, regular, typical citizens of America will not take lightly.
The problem is Markos' choice of publishers. As a well known and respected blogger he could have had his pick of publishers and people will judge him based on who he has in fact chosen. He could even self-publish via lulu or some other online press, but no, he made the choice he made. Understand that I think it is within his right to make this choice, but it does reflect on the rest of us by association.
I speak, of course, of communism (COMMUNISM!!). The publisher of Markos' forthcoming tome also publishes this book:
Yep, you got that right, the communist manifesto. Do you want to be thought of as a communist? I know I sure don't. Do you think the Democratic party really, I mean really, needs to deal with this given that the Republicans are always calling us communist in the first place? Do you think America has suddenly come around and embraces communism? I know I sure don't think so. I am not saying Markos IS communist, we all know he isn't, but what does America know? What does America think? I hope you can see my point, because it does not reflect well on me.
Further, here is the logo of his publisher:
The penguin. The penguin is a well known communist symbol, that is why these people use it. Communists love the way the Empire Penguin forges against the sleet together, no one penguin having to stay too long on the bitter outer edges of their "circles"... but listen, Empire Penguins are all well and good until you realize this is a communist empire they are talking about... are you really on board with that? ... because America is going to think so. And they will not like it.
So I am sorry, and I have a great respect for what Markos has made here, but I'm afraid I cannot afford to be associated with what it represents. I want to accomplish real political change from my desk and I can't do that with this albatross (actually a penguin) tied around my neck. I urge you to do the same (the stench eventually goes away).
