I am a Precinct Captain (operating remotely, though not from an "undisclosed location") for Barack Obama in South Texas and am looking to find a co-captain or three or four to help the campaign blast through my calling/contact lists over the next 3 - 4 days -- say, by Sunday.
This is a "quiet" (loose lips sink ships and all that jazz), special program devised by the campaign to identify strong supporters on the ground who can begin to assume and/or share traditional precinct captain responsibilities in largely hispanic, largely rural counties that are largely leaning towards Hillary.
It would be helpful, but definitely not required, that you have some experience in organizing, phonebanking or recruiting volunteers and that you speak Spanish. But most importantly, you need to be enthusiastic and reliable and able to begin to collaborate on this ambitious project ASAP. The clock is ticking and this is a big precinct in a big state!
I have a lot of experience "captaining" and training canvassers and phonebankers, and would be happy to "lead" our team and do most of the heavy liftng, coordinating with the campaign, interfacing with our dedicated organizer in state, etc., because I am thrilled to have the chance to be part of the effort to contest every single county in TX. (Did you know that TX has more counties than any other state in the US?)
If you'd like to join me, please comment below with an e-mail address and if possible, please also e-mail me at my screen name at aol dot com. Please be sure to put OBAMA in the subject line so that it goes directly to the only folder in my inbox that still has some room in it this week :)
Barack has called on us, and we have risen to the challenge of doing great things for this campaign and this county during the past year. If you are reading this, you already know that we cannot let our guard down now. The next couple of weeks are absolutely critical for us -- eye on the prize, shoulder to the wheel, run like you're down by thirty. I hope you'll consider this unique opportunity to make a much-needed and extra-special contribution to taking TX on March 4.
As kath25 says, Let's March 4th Together!
Yes. We. Can.
Si. Se. Puede.
