Unfortunately, Al Franken is considered "very unfavorable" by 13% more respondents than Mike Ciresi In the latest Rasmussen Poll. Yup, while fellow Dem challenger Mike Ciresi was given the "very unfavorable" rating by only 19% of respondents and Repug Coleman after nearly a full term of angering Minnesotans received the electoral "kiss of death" from 22%, Al Franken blew 'em out of the water with a "very unfavorable" rating from 31% of respondents!
In the year and a few days since Al announced his candidacy he's spent $4,000,000 trying to spruce up his image and trim those all important "negatives". Yet Franken is divisive a candidate as ever, with nearly a third of the voters unlikely to vote for him, ever. That's nearly one third of the voters who have permanently tuned Al out and put him on their "do not vote for list" before the Republican smear machine even gets warmed up. That's the legacy Franken built with decades as a "wild and crazy" comedian and polished with a couple year gig as a left of center "attack dog" on Air America.
Air America's Minnesota transmitter's anemic signal barely reached Minneapolis and it's western suburbs. A friend of mine on the east side of St.Paul paid nearly $200 for a C. Crane receiver and could barely hear Al and the rest of Air America's commentators above the static. And during the 70s and 80s, most of us boomers had better things to do than watch TV on saturday nights, and the younger folks missed Franken on SNL entirely.
If Al Franken wins the Democratic Farmer-Labor Party endorsement the Repugs will be happy to jar our memories of Al the comedian with fileted tapes chosen for their pure tastelessness. If you'd like a preview, check out www.minnesotademocratsexposed.com . The blogger is a bumbling minor politico with a poor sense of timing and demographics- he spent the last election cycle highlighting the parking tickets of a dem candidate running in a district that hadn't elected a republican since the 1960s. His other great accomplishment was revealing an ancient DWI charge that a democratic candidate was never convicted of. In rural districts like the one in question a DWI is considered a mark of bravado and good for a couple percent bump, and the democrat won by couple percent. Remember that this repug blogger is doing us a favor with his premature blogulation- he's given us a preview of just some of the dirt the repugs will dump on Franken come October.
Of course, if Minnesota Dems endorse Mike Ciresi the Repug's tapes of Franken will be worthless...
