The 'Dream Ticket' narrative only works for Senator Clinton.
It allows people to think that they can vote for Clinton and still get Obama on the ticket. And the possibility to vote for him after he has "seasoned" after 8 years of Clinton tutelage.
My advice to Barack Obama, The worst possible political job in the world will be the VP to a Clinton II administration. That is a political cesspool stench that wouldn't come off even after a Robert Byrd length tenure in the Senate.
The up side to You of allowing the Dream Ticket Narrative to continue has negligible advantage compared to the considerable political gain that You can make of this NOW.
Let's break it down:
Obama as VP
Rejecting this is simple by outright saying that You wouldn't want a VP position in a Clinton administration in which Bill Clinton can not even be controlled in the Clinton campaign, from Washington Post
"Bill Clinton just aggressively disagreed," said a top campaign official involved in the discussion. ... The campaign had long ago discovered its limitations in dealing with the former president. He was, after all, no ordinary candidate's spouse. Her aides had become irritated trying to prod his staff to hire a new press secretary and complained that they had a hard time getting one of their own people onto his airplane to keep him on message. "The greatest challenge going into the campaign," a senior campaign aide said with a sigh, "was the management of Bill Clinton."
Making the argument that he has no desire to compete with Bill Clinton for the attention of the POTUS and it seems like a position that no one would want.
Obama as POTUS and Clinton as VP
This is a simple denunciation, and the time is NOW to strike.
Using the following quote:
"I think that since we now know Sen. (John) McCain will be the nominee for the Republican Party, national security will be front and center in this election. We all know that. And I think it’s imperative that each of us be able to demonstrate we can cross the commander-in-chief threshold," the New York senator told reporters crowded into an infant’s bedroom-sized hotel conference room in Washington.
"I believe that I’ve done that. Certainly, Sen. McCain has done that and you’ll have to ask Sen. Obama with respect to his candidacy," she said.
Calling McCain, the presumptive GOP nominee a good friend and a "distinguished man with a great history of service to our country," Clinton said, "Both of us will be on that stage having crossed that threshold. That is a critical criterion for the next Democratic nominee to deal with."
Make it clear that Senator Clinton has made it apparent that she clearly would prefer to be Senator McCain's running mate than Senator Obama's
From Irishkorean:
The small possible downside of Rejecting the "Dream Ticket" narrative now will be minimal to the very strong upsides that can be taken advantage of NOW.
