I can't believe no one has asked Hillary this fundamental question. It's a very simple question that, if asked, will put an end, once and for all, to the issue of "experience."
Senator Clinton: If given the choice, would you prefer McCain's experience or Obama's judgment on issues such as the War in Iraq? It seems simple enough, but if you think about it, she's stuck. She can't say she'd prefer McCain's experience without totally obliterating any hope of wooing the superdelegates to her side. It's one thing to try to dismiss Obama and put herself on McCain's level in this area, but it's quite another to come out and endorse McCain. The superdelegates will finally have had enough. She also can't say she'd prefer McCain because then she herself gives too much weight to his time in Washington, and that will crush her in November.
She also can't say she prefers Obama's judgment, because then, she gives up the experience argument once and for all. She will be admitting that judgment is more critical in the role of president of the United States. She's toast if she says it, but there's no way around it. She really will have no good answer for this question. She's already admitted her war vote was the one she'd most like to "take back." She can't now say Obama's judgment was wrong.
Essentially, I'm stunned that this very simple question has not been put to Hillary Clinton. I don't see a good answer for her. She may try to wiggle out of it with double-speak and let's face it, she's good at that, but if pressed--hard--to make a choice about this, she really has nowhere to run or hide. She may say something like, "I think Senator McCain and I have the experience to make the tough choices, blah, blah, blah..." But again, if the follow up question is: So you're saying that you'd prefer a McCain presidency over an Obama one? She'd literally be TOAST with the superdelegates and every Democratic voter in this country. Somebody needs to ask her this question and just shut her down once and for all.
