I've had it up to here with so many people here, elsewhere on the net, and even in my own households, echoing TeacherKen's recent jeremiad and threatening me "stop supporting Hillary Clinton, or else".
The "or else", of course, is that in the (increasingly unlikely) event of a Clinton nomination they will sit on their hands and deliver me, and you, and your loved ones, up to a McCain presidency and the Supreme Court from Hell.
I don't like being bludgeoned out of my preference.
This is what I hear: I won't vote for Hillary if she is the nominee, so if you support her and McCain wins it's YOUR FAULT for putting her there! Step away from that candidate!
I won't. I won't be bullied into pretending I believe she isn't a better choice. Because I don't.
Now I'm realistic, and I do know she only has a slim chance of winning the nomination now. What makes me sad. I foresee a disastrous Obama GE, and if he does make it to the White House an ineffective foil for the remaining Republicans in Congress and the huge phalanx of true believers who have been placed in the civil service by the current administration (and who need to be rooted out, ruthlessly and quickly). God, I hope I'm wrong.
But that's not my real point, and I could continue on the topic. Like I said - stop threatening me with dire consequences if I continue to support my candidate. It's only those threats that made me take a good look behind the curtain of the Obama campaign, which I was starting to admire.
And I will vote for him. Holding my nose all the way.
