Obama said he was not in attendance during the fiery sermons that are being replayed over and over as much as the WTC attacks were replayed. Even Fox News verifies this:
Reports circulated over the weekend that Obama had attended the fiery sermon that day by the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. But a copy of Obama’s schedule viewed by FOX News as well as video of Obama speaking appear to place him in Miami that day at a convention of the National Council of La Raza.
Here is where some people get confused. Obama said this on Friday:
The statements that Rev. Wright made that are the cause of this controversy were not statements I personally heard him preach while I sat in the pews of Trinity or heard him utter in private conversation.
But he said this in his More Perfect Union speech:
Did I ever hear him make remarks that could be considered controversial while I sat in church? Yes. Did I strongly disagree with many of his political views? Absolutely – just as I’m sure many of you have heard remarks from your pastors, priests, or rabbis with which you strongly disagreed.
Did he lie?
Of course not. Obama has heard him say "controversial" things over 20 years but he was not in attendance on the 9/11esque (because its being replayed so frequently) statements by Rev. Wright.
He did not lie.
This needs to be said because people are repeating that he lied over and over on the web. It's patently false and it doesn't take much to see that it is false. People are twisting what he said to call him a lier and it's not fair.
It's so frustrating seeing so many people mistake/misinterpret the words from his speech. I wish Obama had better press people to air the truth on this stuff.
