I'm pretty much done diaring here I decided. There isn't much more I can add here.
Diaries are supposed to be, at least in my opinion, our experience in politics...but mine, as you well know, has not been the same as most of yours. I live in Queens, work in Nassau County and feel as if I'm living in a small chunk of political society where Barack Obama is toxic. I don't know one person who will vote for him (On Super Tuesday, I knew about a dozen)...even Democrats. I hear some of the most disgusting remarks about him
"He's elitist"
"He;s arrogant"
"He's Dukakis on the Senate floor"
"He's the worst candidate the party put forward since Humphrey"
"He's a backstabber"
and so on.
So I decided there is nothing more I can bring you from my own part of the world. For the time being whatever experience I have here will only be a damper on yours.
I put out e-mails last night to friends of mine from college, in the Poconos, a friend who works in Terre Haute, Indiana (a Republican who gloated for 250 words about how much he can't wait to see Obama supporters crying in November) and a distant cousin in Portland, Oregon. The tone I got from them was bleak for us. I had originally intended on diaring about it, but said, hey, it's only going to further the concern troll idea, so whatever.
So I'll be silenced...you win. It's not worth worrying about or losing sleep over. When it comes right down to it, fate has already decided this election and if we are destined to lose, there's nothing we can do about it. If we're destined to win, there's nothing that can stop that.
I don't have the faith or confidence most of you do. Perhaps it's because I live in a strongly anti-Obama community, perhaps it's because I've falled from the hope pedestal too often in my life, but I have decided that because I haven't been able to build up the faith because of the situation around me, I'm going to expect the worst, hope and work for the best. You want my honest opinion as to what will happen in November? The Democrats will end up with 55 Senate Seats, 245 House seats, and McCain will be elected President no matter who the nominee is...that's honestly how I feel...but I won't rain on your parade, just take it as a grain of salt.
I may continue to diary about other things, such as Congressional races, issues, or other stuff...last night I wrote about the Italian elections...but I'm done with the White House...whatever happens with happen.
