The result is nearly unanimous. The ABC Debate was the lowest point in American politics where no laws (except good taste) were broken. Some are taking to the streets some are writing ABC. More power to them, but it's not going to change anything.
What I'm asking for is something else.
The questions asked at what was Yearly Kos and other places are far better and more substantive, but they don't get aired very widely. Even on YouTube, it's not going to reach the 10,000,000 people that the ABC debate got. (That is another reason there will be no apology, ABC got the best debate ratings this season that night.) The brain-dead media have the biggest megaphone by far, but we the people, real people, not plants or actors, have the best questions by far.
So, what I'm looking for is a debate either between Clinton/Obama or Obama/McCain (heh like he'd accept) with:
- The reach of over-the-air broadcast or established cable networks
- Questions asked by actual people not moderators
- Moderators who are strictly there to keep the debate moving (basically time keepers)
So how do we get these things together? Any ideas? How much would it cost?
Update: This post was actually prompted by this completely demoralizing Josh Marshall post. I think the media are beyond saving.
