I was at Obama's Wynnewood, PA rally today, his first stop (after Philadelphia last night) on his train tour across the state. It was a beautiful day--low 80s--and the diversity and tangible hope in the crowd was truly inspiring. Obama was introduced by our Democratic Senator, Bob Casey. Obama spoke with passion and conviction about the need to create both a new kind of government in America, one that listens to the concerns of ordinary citizens, and a new kind of politics, that searches for solutions rather than playing gotcha and tit-for-tat. He pointed out that Hillary's pitch was essentially that we should elect her because she had more experience playing the old kind of politics. As I left the rally, a friend said to me, "Do you think he can really bring about this kind of change?" In thinking about her question afterward, I am forced to say I don't know for sure. But I do know that no fundamental change will occur unless we, and the leaders we elect, are committed to working for it. And that gets Obama my vote.
Update [2008-4-19 15:47:37 by frazer]: Own, in the comments below, gives the crowd size as 6,000. Thanks for the info!
