You know the scene. Arthur confronts The Black Knight in the woods. Cuts of his arm, his leg. His other arm. His other leg. And the Knight keeps insisting that he can win. "Merely a flesh wound" he says.
That is Hillary Clinton's campaign.
And now I'm screaming at both Tim Russert and Joe Scarborough concern-trolling her along, saying that Barack can't deal her the knockout blow. Well, no, he can't deliver the knockout blow, because she will continue to deny defeat repeatedly, relentlessly, even as the rest of her party and her opponent has moved on. A knockout blow doesn't exist in the amourphous blackness of the oddball rules of the system wherein the individual voter is 2 or 12 times removed from the deciding ballot.
The sad thing is that she continues to mislead her supporters. And the media aids and abets her at every turn. The media's motivation is rather obvious -- keep it going until November, cuz o' the ratings, baby! And then keep the race tight with the love of McCain and the open, unwavering disdain for Democratic policies (combined with an unwavering affection for the Democratic footrace). Mislead and misdirect.
But the people funding the campaign for Clinton are tapped out. Busted. They're empty. They are looking at Hillary's severed limbs littered around the country and, absent McCain-like skirting of campaign finance legislation, they are unable to help her anymore. She's done.
Eventually she'll admit it. Or rip the party in two.
