It all began when my father, a die-hard Republican, through whatever bizarre motivation (he knows I am a liberal), gave me a subscription to the Washington Times.
As these things are wont to do, one thing followed another and I began receiving all manner of rightwing mailers. Thus the seeds were planted for my own version of Operation Chaos . . .
Follow me below the fold for why and how (anyone can join in) . . .
The beauty of such mailing lists is their easy manipulation in ways that will benefit (in multiple ways) progressives for years to come.
For example, I was offered a newsletter . . . "free of charge! Now or ever!" . . . I subscribed . . . and, without ever reading it, will dutifully walk from my mailbox to the recycling bin whenever it arrives. Even those mass mailings cost money to produce and send. I will "bleed the beast" that is the rightwing by letting them waste money on me.
Or, I recently got a "poll" from the Heritage Foundation (bragging how Rush Limbaugh uses their research to slam liberals and explaining their fight against such ultra-liberal organizations as Moveon and Daily Kos). They promise they will share my views with policymakers and members of Congress. Hmmm . . . what to do . . . the envelope IS postage paid. I know! I'll fill it out and advocate the MOST extreme views of the right. That should drive true moderates sceaming in our direction!
Yes, there is a lot of fun in all of this . . . you too can play at home!
