I'm making one final plea to help bring Pets for the Environment closer to their fundraising goal.
Pets for the Environment, headed by Eddie, are on a mission to make the world a cleaner, less toxic place for household pets. Foods and household items are a main source of chemicals that gather over time in our pets' (and our own) bodies. This is an issue near and dear to the hearts of all pet owners and animal lovers. It's time to force the FDA and pet food industry to change their ways and start protecting consumers and their pets.
It's hard to believe that these little guys have been with us for three years now. Like all pet owners, I always try to give them the best and safeguard their health as much as possible. In the wake of last year's pet-food recall and the heckuva job done by the FDA in response, I realized it was time to do some research and actually ensure that my kitties were getting only the highest quality things to eat. It's an unfortunate fact that humans and pets alike cannot depend on the FDA and food industry to protect us from harmful ingredients. This is particularly true for pets, whose little bodies accumulate harmful chemicals present in their food and environment at a much higher rate than we people.
While I myself and many of you may already have done the research and shelled out the extra cash to provide healthier things to our cats, dogs, and other lovable critters, there are many pet owners who lack the means to follow suit. Although I am a champion of individuals making conscious choices to improve their own lives, communities, and environment, there are many who are not as fortunate as I. In such instances, it is necessary for groups and communities to step in and help out. All pet owners, from those buying from boutique shops to those shopping at the supermarket--have a right to provide their pets with food that does not slowly poison them. Unfortunately, this is not the case today, as the pet-food industry continues to add harmful ingredients and fillers to many leading brands of pet food, and the FDA allows this grievous state of affairs to persist.
Luckily, there is an organization that champions the rights of pet owners over pet-food manufacturers. Pets for the Environment is seeking donations to fund the testing of dog and cat food brands for harmful chemicals so that it can expose the practices of the pet-food industry. The results of these tests will be delivered to the FDA in an effort to force it to better regulate the industry by getting it to clean up its act. But testing pet foods is not cheap, so Pets for the Environment needs our help. If each reader could find it in their hearts to Donate! just $25 to this great cause, we'll be that much closer to being able to create change for all pet owners and animals; protecting them from unnecessary harm.
If you prefer to find some nice, healthy food or toys for your dog or cat, you can also go to the green, online pet supply store, The Leash We Can Do!, which is donating 10% of its sales for May to Pets for the Environment.
