In an editorial in the Boston Globe Geraldine has a new line of attack;
Here we are at the end of the primary season, and the effects of racism and sexism on the campaign have resulted in a split within the Democratic Party that will not be easy to heal before election day. Perhaps it's because neither the Barack Obama campaign nor the media seem to understand what is at the heart of the anger on the part of women who feel that Hillary Clinton was treated unfairly because she is a woman or what is fueling the concern of Reagan Democrats for whom sexism isn't an issue, but reverse racism is.
Oohh, there it is.. The incredulous concept of reverse racism used to further perpetuate the theory that Obama’s blackness is too much for average white person to handle. Oh I see now, Clinton lost because she is white.
Thank you for clarifying that for us Geraldine, thank you for justifying your past vitriol against Obama not as something inherently silly as ordinary racism, but the new and improved racism where whites are victims of affirmative action gone crazy and black cultural differences are offensive to the sensibilities of simple folk.
Thank you Geraldine for insinuating that being Black in America means something only if you remain entrenched in stereotypes and the vile conditions of the ghetto.
They don't identify with someone who has gone to Columbia and Harvard Law School and is married to a Princeton-Harvard Law graduate.
Ohh I see, they only (you only) identify with Blacks who fit the mold, those who know their place in your world. Thank you Geraldine, for insinuating that the audacity of upittyness is by your definition a recipe for disaster in November.
If you're white you can't open your mouth without being accused of being racist. They see Obama's playing the race card throughout the campaign and no one calling him for it as frightening. They're not upset with Obama because he's black; they're upset because they don't expect to be treated fairly because they're white. It's not racism that is driving them, it's racial resentment. And that is enforced because they don't believe he understands them and their problems. That when he said in South Carolina after his victory "Our Time Has Come" they believe he is telling them that their time has passed
Thank you Geraldine for validating a bigot's worst fear as legitimate, where white fear of Blacks is a perfectly good explanation for not supporting brilliance, honestly and vitality. Thank you Geraldine for not pointing out that these fears are irrational and beyond what a civil, progressive society should espouse to. No, thank you for using the institutionalized fear of the "Black uprising" which is at the foundation of white fear that through out history has translated into white rage and violence. Thank you for taking such a stance and taking this history and proving once again that the term "back of the bus" still has meaning.
So Allow me to help you with your revisionist history in the making for reasons why such a fear exists;
