Today the NRA called and asked for my support. First I had to listen to a short blurb from the NRA President. He was concerned about the D.C. 2nd Amendment Supreme Court Ruling and another upcoming decision about gun shows. The audio blurb ended and I was connected with a member who started to explain to me how my guns will be taken away. I got pissed when he said Obama was a threat to my gun ownership. I asked how Obama was planning to take my guns away, and he said "Obama supported legeslation that banned unlicensed gun sales at gun shows. Now I was hot. I have donated money off and on over the years to the NRA, my daughters went to gun safety classes sponsered by the NRA. The NRA has a wealth of knowledge on gun safety and that should be treasured. BUT........
I told the caller I am a little pissed because I know damn well Obama has no intention on "taking" my guns. I am a avid hunter, so are both of my daughters, my father, grand and great fathers. I have about 20 rifles. My girls have 3 and 5. I told him I am voting for Obama, and I voted for Clinton. I agree with waiting periods. I agree with registration. I agree with assault weapons bans. I agree with background checks. I agreed with the Brady Bill.
Let me make this as simple as possible to all the idiots that think "everyone" should be allowed to own a firearm.
Most everyone in America would loan out their $30,000 car before they would loan out their $300 pistol. Every one of my friends that I have laid that line on just looks at the floor, because it is true.
Walk through the mall and look around. Imagine all those window lickers with guns. Hell, the Vice President shot his friend in the face, with a $25,000 shotgun made by fur-in-ers. Couldn't even shoot him with a "Made in the USA" firearm. I would have taken his goddamned guns from him, made him pay massive fines, and forbade him from hunting ever again. Oops...tripped a switch...back on track.Sorry.
Anyway, I told him I would reserve judgement until I hear exacly what the Supreme Court is really debating, that I am not concerned about my hunting rights, and like all other solicitors I donate to, I told him to call again later.
