I have signed more than a few blog calls for impeachment of Bush, Bush and Cheney, the above plus Rummy, Condi, Rovey, Scalia, etc. Seems like the patriotic thing to do, Kudos to Kucinich and Whoops to Wexler, etc.
All of us are aware of Speaker Pelosi's decision to "take impeachment off the table". The ghost of a reason given is that the TIMING of the subject is wrong, that this would 'distract and be devisive' for the public when the election is imminent. She and Senator Reid have taken bucketloads of flak for doing this, most from the understandably upset and reasonable people who want to fry Bushco in its own oil.
Some months ago, I put the question of the seeming delay and cowardice by the Speaker to my Rep, Melissa Bean (D-IL 8th District). She was good enough to reply (in political-eze) that true, it was not a good TIME for such a move, BUT she also kind of hinted that 'off the table' doesn't mean 'swept under the rug'.
Other posters on Huffpo have gone so far as to say that Speaker Pelosi is being very wise and cagey about handling this, taking all the abuse and letting Bushco pile one misstep (McClellan's book, the GAO report, more and louder calls for impeachment itself) onto another. She isn't running the risk of solidifying the tower of Jello McCain is calling his 'base', as painful as that makes it for the Dems, the long-suffering American public, and the people in uniform. She's banking on Obama's win, and then come January, or possibly even November, it's ROUNDUP time at the Congressional Corral.
QUESTION: Am I deluding myself, suffering from Obamaphoria in that I believe this is (dare I say it?) somewhat POSSIBLE?
I would appreciate any response, thank you.
