I am supposed to be working but stumbled across something that amazed me gave me proof that we are all human. If you only have 4.5 spare minutes this video is how you should spend it. For the next hour or two my inner political cynic has shut up.
A quick background, I am a world traveler after having lived in Sweden and Siberia, traveling to over 40+ countries and 5 continents. I had stumbled across a site several years ago called, Where the hell is Matt. It basically is a collection of clips of this guy traveling the world doing the exact same geeky dance everywhere. But this brand new video is special... Watch at least until the first full minute goes past.
This video will just help us all forget the troubles we have with politics, finance, etc...and just help us all be human together. Won’t you be human with me today?
I loved the fact that this video showed this Everyman doing something so incredibly geeky that I could relate to it. Then after a while he brings so many people together from so many cultures and countries all doing the same thing. A goofy dance that will be shared with the world. After all, doesn’t this help show we are all human? We all want to have fun, doing something they know will be shown all over the world and all for a laugh.
Granted now this guy turned something that he did for fun and love into a bit of a business. He was approached by a small gum manufacturer to be a sponsor. They sent him around the world again for this latest version. He is doing something he loves and has fun with...dancing around the world and making new friends at it.
In the beginning it is just some guy dancing by himself. After all isn’t that what so many of us do? Work, play, eat by ourselves? Then next thing you know all of these crowds of people come rushing in to join him! All of his new friends! Isn’t that what we all want? To be with our friends and family? Despite our political, racing, gender, cultural, and geographical differences this video reminds me that we are human!
My Favorite Parts
Korean Demilitarized Zone: That reminded me of the stark view I had of standing outside the Kremlin right after the fall of the USSR and knowing how very different we were culturally. But at the same time, seeing a guard smile at me. I knew we were both human.
India with the dancers: this spoke to me because he was doing hus unique dance but then blended in with the cultural dancers. How many times had I tried to follow and respect others cultural differences? I can’t count now.
Vomit Comet: Matt struggling to dance while in simulated zero G! That was a hoot
Seattle, WA: This is truly one of my favorites. Not because it is an incredible scene...but because it is about a 5 minute drive from my house at Gas Works park. :)
This question does make me think one thing...why did I go to college and become an adult? I want to go dance around the world with Matt. :)
The poll won't have any snarky options...after all we are just being human together.
Full disclosure, I am not affiliated with or pimping out the gum sponsor or Where The Hell is Matt. I’m just a guy that related to the video and wanted to share it.
