Have you ever been in the middle of a game with someone who was losing? They don't like the way things look so they throw the Monopoly board across the room. Or see two small kids playing and one of them takes his trucks to the other side of the room so the other kid can't play with it. We generally dislike this bratty behavior in ourselves and our children. So I have to say, a lot of Democrats have been acting like two year olds lately. "Barack Obama didn't do something I wanted him to so I want all my donations back and I am going to withdraw my support and sit in the corner and pout!" Seriously? If you were my child you would be sitting in a time-out thinking about your actions and how it relates to everyone else in the room. And for some of you, that time out would last for a real, long time!
I know that some of us feel let down or disappointed by some of the positions Obama has taken lately. But in case you haven't noticed, Barack Obama is running a national campaign for the presidency! He knows that we, his base, agree with him 95% of the time. It's the other people he has to convince to vote for him. And you have every right to complain, bitch and whine. But finger pointing, he-said she-said, back-stabbing bullsh*t doesn't help anyone. Leave that to the republicans-it's what they're good at. The media already distorts everything he says and it doesn't help when we begin in-fighting amongst ourselves. It just gives the media more fuel for their fire. We all need to be united in our support for Barack Obama and help get him elected president. He damn sure won't be effective if he's not elected.
In the last two elections we were convinced we had things sewn up and Gore and Kerry were going to win. To be fair, the first election was given to Bush by the Supreme Court. But that second election was lost by us. If we had shown 1% of the outrage you have dedicated to FISA to helping Kerry battle the right wing, things might look a lot different now. Maybe this year we could try something NEW. Let's all work together. Let's get all those unregistered voters registered. Let's send in donations so Obama can get his message out to the undecideds and disgruntled Republicans. Let's discuss all the things we LIKE about Obama and how different he and McCain are. Let's do something crazy this year and W-I-N!
For those of you in the corner-you can come out when you can play nicely with others. Otherwise, stay there and be quiet until November, please. We are trying to win an election.
