Well Jessie finally made the announcement and said "he will not be running at the moment." Al Franken sleeps a little easier with that news. In a 3 way race we had:
SUSA for KSTP-TV
Senator Norm Coleman (R) 43%
Al Franken (D) 27%
Former Governor Jessie Ventura (I) 26%
more below
Jessie Ventura pulled 28% of the Democratic vote, and 15% of the republicans so this will help out the Democratic candidate. In my opinion the 3 way race is pretty scary for Franken because he has ran a campaign for a long time now, almost a year, and his support is pretty week if 28% of dems would jump ship. But at the same time I can understand because Al is going up against guys that have won statewide office in the past.
Now that Jessie is out if we look at a Franken v Coleman race we have:
SUSA for KSTP-TV
Norm Coleman 52%
Al Franken 39%

With that said Al will also get a challenger for the September primary, actually 3 of them. Priscilla Lord Faris is the one that will give Al a hard time of the three. The other 2 guys run for something every year and have no chance. Priscilla Lord Faris is an attorney, and daughter of Federal Judge Miles Lord. They are also heavily involved in DFL circles, and are very well known. She is planning on raising $1-$2 million bucks for the primary. She sighted poor polls for Franken and decided to get in.
As I was typing this I saw some new numbers flash on the TV. I cannot find a link so take this with a big huge grain of salt please:
Rasmussen for Fox 9 TV
Norm Coleman 42%
Al Franken 44%
A big difference from the SUSA numbers. Al down by 13% in one poll and up by 2% in another. Hmmmm.
All this is very preliminary, and I just wanted to write up a quick post to spread the word. Hell Jessie said "I have until 5pm tomorrow to file" hinting he could still go for it. Maybe Mike Ciresi will get in after all. Maybe, well who the heck knows. It will all be solved at the end of the day tomorrow.
