Or whoever in the Obama communications department managed this coup. Not one, not two, but all three major television anchors are going to be following Obama to Europe.
The interviews are going to be drawn out over three nights, in different countries, given it maximum impact.
Howard Kurtz makes this excellent point:
When McCain, in March, visited Britain, France and Israel and met with their leaders, no network anchors tagged along. NBC and ABC sent correspondents; CBS did not. McCain's trip to Colombia and Mexico two weeks ago was barely covered, although NBC and ABC sent correspondents.
HA! If an old man yells at a cloud and no one is around to hear him, does it count?
In all honesty, I think the Barack Obama communications department really outdid themselves this time. I think this visit is extremely important to counter-acting voters ideas that McCain has any idea about how to solve any foreign issue. People are going to see Sen. Obama being loved on by foreign leaders/populaces in every country, of every party - and for once, that won't be a bad thing. Thank God Americans have finally realized that it's rather lonely when everyone else hates you. Even Thomas Friedman grasps simple ideas like that.
