I'm taking a short break from my usual erudite, hyper-serious, educational diaries about Natural Rights, Economics and cute dog stories.
Instead, here is a piece of 100% pure goofiness and stone-cold genius.
Joss Whedon and friends (Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Serenity) put this together in response to the writer's strike.
They wanted to show that they could make high-quality, seriously funny short films without bowing to studio funding and the artistic compromises that come with it. And they wanted to actually make money off the project, to show that they could reap their just rewards without the studios taking their cut off the top.
Just to make this diary-worth, look here for the "Master Plan". Then we can have a comment fest on the hyper-serious econmics of Hollywood and how the net changes everything!
Or you can just enjoy an excellent piece of comedy. But hurry, they're taking the whole thing down on Saturday.
