When they talk about things as "American as apple pie," you really do have to throw in Minor League Baseball. Sure, "The Show" is highly entertaining and the big-name ballplayers are who everyone wants to see, but you can't beat the purity of a gorgeous summer day at the ball field amongst friends, family and neighbors rooting on the guys who play for the love of the game.
That said, leave it up to Minor League Baseball to come up with the coolest, zaniest promotions. And this one is no different. Recently six teams gave away Barack Obama and John McCain bobbleheads to fans as part of "Bobblection 2008." Whichever candidate ran out of bobbleheads first was declared the winner. And who says BO has an issue in the "middlest" of Americas?
The people have spoken, and the leader they prefer is bobblin' Barack Obama. Here are the results:
GOLDKLANG GROUP BOBBLECTION RESULTS
TEAM OBAMA McCAIN
Hudson Valley, NY 750 (51.3%) 713 (48.7)
Brockton, MA 500 (52.3%) 456 (47.7%)
Charleston, SC 500 (58.1%) 360 (41.9%)
St. Paul, MN 1250 (58%) 906 (42%)
Sioux Falls, SD 500 (55.2%) 405 (44.8%)
Fort Myers, FL 500 (54.4%) 419 (45.6%)
TOTALS 4,000 ( 55.1%) 3,259 ( 44.9%)
Granted, anyone with half a brain would have hauled ass to the ball park to get their hands on what is guaranteed to be one of the coolest collectibles on the market following the election (and I'm not talking about the McCain version obviously). Nevertheless, a very cool promotion. Now if you'll excuse me, I'll be on ebay for the next two hours. :)
