Senator Lugar appeared on CNN's Face the Nation today with nothing short of honesty. He bashed Joe Lieberman's recent statements at a campaign rally for John McCain(in regards to Obama and Georgia) as "a clearly partisan statement." In other words, that ain't straight talk- that's some politics being played by John McCain's close friend. Lugar definitely decided not to tow the party line. Commenting on John McCain's position to kick Russia out of the G-8, Lugar said that's probably not a good idea. In other words, it's probably a bad idea.
I'm going to update this once I can find some video.(feel free to post links in the comment section to said video! First one to break video gets a shout-out!) In the meantime, let's really think about this. Lugar, the senior Senator from Indiana, a Republican, and an expert in foreign policy, basically is one of the few Republicans who's actually on the Straight Talk Express. John McCain ain't on it no matter how much he portrays himself as someone who was born and raised on "a little straight talk."
Every time John McCain claims to know the situation in Georgia, every time he claims to know how to deal with Russia, Democrats can just point to McCain's fellow Republican colleague, Senator Richard Lugar of Indiana for their rebuttal. A fine American. Surely, as I have long speculated, there are more than a few Republicans within the Senate who are nervous about John McCain. Has anyone forgotten what Thad Cochran(Republican of Mississippi) said about McCain when he endorsed Obama? To quote;
The thought of his being President sends a cold chill down my spine. He is erratic. He is hotheaded. He loses his temper, and he worries me.
Is Lugar worried too? Help me find the video of the whole exchange! As I said, I'll update with video once it's available and give a shout-out to whomever finds it!
