And brought to you by the New York Times (click on Glen McCoy), the sickest editorial cartoon I think I've ever seen.
Now, I know they don't check these on-line comics. They come automated from UClick through a contract or something. But this cartoon is really about as close to the edge of totally unacceptable as I have ever seen.
It also points to the vicious nature of the right wing mind, and their inability to see other sides of issues. If Obama thinks that he can work with these people he is nuts. Even Rick Warren stabbed Obama in the back, saying after the "interview" that no evangelical should ever vote fro a pro-choice candidate.
They're more than happy to destroy Iraq's infrastructure to the point where children are forced to drink water with visible fecal matter in it, dying from disgusting diseases that before our attack were unheard of because of basic sanitation.
But advocate that women should be allowed to choose when to have children and you are a sinful destroyer. Approve of using blastospheres (close to 70 percent of which fail to become human naturally) for medical research and you are a hateful monster who pounds babies in a garbage bin.
My outrage over this comic and this whole discussion is pretty much unbounded. I could go on for weeks writing outraged sentences.
But Obama needs to see this and realize that there is no compromise with these people, no working with them. You give them offshore drilling and you will still not get renewable energy credits. You give them abstinence education and you will still not get safe sex curricula. You give them draconian bankruptcy "reform" and you will still not get protections for the working poor against unscrupulous lenders.
The right wing is out for themselves, and they will smile at you and buy you drinks and tell you you're pretty and then screw you over every time.
They're not gonna call, Barack. Go on the attack.
UPDATE: McCain is apparently calling around to see if a pro-choice pick for VP would be OK. Think McCoy will do a cartoon on McCain, too?
