Wow. I'm speechless (in a good way!) Now I know another one of the reasons that the Obama campaign got my cell number a few weeks ago. The primary reason was so the campaign could text me the name of Barack's VP choice. But knowing how technologically sophisticated and forward-thinking his campaign has been, I knew there was more to the story.
Now, with hurricane Gustav hitting land in Louisiana, I just received a text message from Barack Obama asking me to consider donating 5 bucks to the Red Cross.
Here's the text in it's entirety.
Barack asks that you give to the Red Cross: give 5 dollars by texting GIVE to 24357 or give more by calling 1-800--435-7669 or at redcross.org/donate. Please fwd

I'm impressed. He's got TWO MILLION PLUS donors and lord knows how many cell phone numbers, and is using them to help the good folks in Louisiana. I love it! Whether or not one is an Obama fan, you've gotta appreciate his campaign's ability to mobilize its supporters for the common good. Heck, you could even forward this link to your friends who don't like Obama and let them know the good that is coming out of his campaign.
So for those who didn't get the text and might have an extra 5 or 10 bucks sitting around, think about sending it to the Red Cross, and let 'em know you were inspied by Barack's text to do it!
