...It's cowardly.
Briefly, this evening was a collection of tough talk and finger pointing into a metaphorical mirror. It was an example of the vacuum ideology held by the GOP in which unilateral rhetoric is merely amplified indirectly through the press at opponents.
It is not valid and it is not courageous.
It's the easiest thing to do. We've all done it. We've all come home and yelled and flailed around at the jerk who cut us off at the intersection; but also seemed enormous. We've all practiced our chops before having a conversation we've feared having with someone. However, it is in no way a sign of superior strength or 'toughness;' but rather, is a sign of frailty in the face of actual confrontation.
We'll see who has strength when you are forced to face the issues in place of the straw men, the 'liberal media,' and the 'Islamofascists.' We'll see whose platform is based on policy and whose is based on fear mongering and bigoted rhetoric. Furthermore, you'll see why our candidate(s) fill cities and venues while your planners have to make rooms seem fuller.
We critiqued. You propagated. Our speakers had substance. Yours had treachery, fear mongering, and an acidic hint of flat out bigotry.
Standing before a controlled crowd hurling insults confirms your cowardice. It is my great pleasure to inform you that just outside of your cloister there is an exponential growth in the number of people who aren't going to buy it anymore.
We'll see you soon.
