I mean nobody could accuse that sort of tactic as being unfair media treatment, given that Fox News pulled the same stunt with Barack Obama.
I think it’s important to highlight how many days it has been since Mrs. Palin accepted the VP nod without giving an interview to a non-Fox News, National Review, Rush Limbaugh type of outfit.
- It highlights how unprepared Sarah Palin is for campaigning, let alone a Vice President or President.
- It is another admission of how rushed and sloppy McCain’s decision making process was. If this had been a thorough and deliberate process, she would have been able to prepare for interviews ahead of time.
- It indicates how political, cynical and gimmicky this selection was. That McCain is not interested in governing but in winning an election.
- Turns media bias argument on its head. Obama is willing to go on Fox News on multiple occasions. McCain won’t talk to CNN, and Palin just won’t talk. How will they fight for the little guy or stand up to the terrorists if they can’t stand up to Wolf Blitzer?
The types of questions/interview topics that might make an interview qualify as legitimate are:
- Details on the vetting/selection process
- Trooper-gate
- The ‘Bridge to Nowhere’ lie
- Her hiring of a lobbyist, and solicitation of earmarks for Wasilla and Alaska as mayor and governor
- Other then drilling as often and as soon as possible, what some of her policy positions are.
- Will she unequivocally reject and denounce the secessionist Alaska Independence Party?
- What exactly a Vice President does every day?
