This entry should maybe called CONCERN TROLL ALERT, but I thought I'd opt for Why I'm Worried (& Why I'm Not). Just a month ago, I was absolutely certain Barack would win, not in a close race like the brain dead pundits were saying, but in a massive landslide. I envisioned him picking up some known swing states like New Mexico, Colorado, but also the less talked about Arizona and Alaska. And so we've had our VP's announced and Conventions. On one side we have a bold faced, incompetent, pathological liar in Sarah Palin shitting on Community Organizers and the other side we have the Washington veteran senator in Joe Biden who has his flaws but will destroy Palin in a debate. And the race has apparently tightened, not just nationally (as I think those polls are stupid anyway), but the state polls as well.
Of course I hope it's just a phase like Mondale picking Ferrarro when his polls shot through the roof, only to fail badly. And it very well could be, as McPalin are rightfully and FINALLY being called liars. BUT If there's anyone in the TV world I trust when it comes to electoral college polls it's Charles Todd or Chuck Todd.
This morning on Meet The Press, Todd broke down the map as it stands now. He did have a disclaimer saying the maps have a shelf life of a few hours (ain't that the truth.) But on 9/13 we are O-233 and M-227 with 78 toss up. Toss ups are Nevada, Colorado, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, New Hampshire, and Virginia. Good news for Barack is that New Mexico is leaning Obama (which is duh, but it's good its being talked about), however North Carolina seems out of reach.

Of course I do think (like many of you) these polls are inaccurate for a plethora of reasons. 1) Cell phones! 2) Underestimating the youth and black vote. 3) The massive number of new registered Democrats, and the ground game. 4) Unspoken racism (or as Todd talked about the "Bubba Vote").
Todd said the McCain and Obama camps both think that Obama will lose around 70% of the undecideds...Why? Well these undecideds will vote for Dems for house and senate but somehow are undecided for president? They won't say why, but it's clearly obvious. Chucky T prefaced if Obama doesn't have 48% nationally the Sunday before the election, a loss is a very high possiblity. I do think many of us are underestimating the racism in this country. I do think the MSM has not their job at all.
I am worried, I feel it in my heart that the country will make the biggest mistake since 2004 when Bush was re-elected. As great as SOME Americans are, a great(er) number of Americans are not that great or open. I am worried that this country is far too anti-intellectual and racist to vote for a BIRACIAL candidate. I am worried that there are actually individuals who think McCain is pro-choice and anti-war despite every public appearance he's done he says he isn't either of those things.
I am not worried because I absolutely think having both Clintons out campaigning will do a world of good for Barack with that "Bubba Vote." I am not worried because Barack is hitting back hard (finally) and the MSM is taking notice. I am not worried because all the major news outlets are shouting Bullshit at the McPalin ticket and ripping them to shreds. I am not worried because, well everything is in the Democrats favor and any new found excitement because of Palin is pretty concentrated in ruby red states. I am not worried because women voter's aren't any more inclined to vote for McPalin. I am worried that conservatives (true fiscal conservatives/libertarians) would lose their integrity actually consider voting for McCain/Palin.
I mean, this election could not be any more clearer. If you thought the last 8 years were just fine, vote for McCain and stay with the Republican party. If NOT, then throw the bums out, because McCain and Palin will not enact anything different than Bush or Cheney. And Obama will not lose this election because he didn't campaign hard enough or didn't get his message out there, it will be because enough segments of America is racist or ignorant and would rather suffer for another possible 16 years of the same policies.
I do not worry because of the faith I have in Biden to completely eviscerate Palin in foreign and domestic policy. I do not worry because I know Obama will outsmart and outdebate McCain on anything and everything. I only worry that the American people will not suck it up and swallow their pride to realize their own world is not the whole world and vote for the guy who's actually promising something different and has a record of trying to cleaning up Washington. I do not worry, above all else, because of Obama's insane ground game that I do hope/believe is not reflected in any of the polls.
I do not worry because I went around my college/Rutgers campus in Newark, NJ and attempted to register kids to vote, talked to them about Barack Obama, and signed them up for our Democratic Committee student mailing list. There is no stronger or better way to elect someone than word of mouth. We need to spread the word of mouth on not just BARACK, but more importantly about McBushCheneyPalin and their lies and abuses of power.
