Are Republicans just evil? Their policies are hateful and anti-worker. They hate poor people. They hate hourly workers. And they LOVE rich people. Here is an overview of McShame's official policies. Today I focus on domestic affairs. http://www.gop.com/...
"The other party wants to continue pork barrel politics; we are disgusted by it....The entrenched culture of official Washington — an intrusive tax-and-spend liberalism — remains a formidable foe, but we will confront and ultimately defeat it." p. 15.
Hypocrite, thy name is Republican. Republicans prefer Uncle Sam to just write them a check, or give their company a tax subsidy, based on the issuing of more US debt obligations to Chinese communists. The stupid Republicans do not believe this will ever come back to bite them in the ass. Fools they. Pardon me for the merciless alliteration, but it is the same old corporatist credit card cult that under Bush II has drowned our nation in historic budget deficits. I seem to recall a certain Republican senator from Alaska, Ted Stevens, the master of pork, and his willing acolyte, Sarah Palin, with her village of 5,000 christian souls hiring a Washington lobbyist to get $27 million from the US taxpayer. And then Palin became VP nominee and claimed she vetoed the Bridge to Nowhere, when the historical record clearly shows her to be a liar: she sought this pork barrel project, and then axed it when it was expedient (but kept the US taxpayer's money for pet projects in AK).
"...our rights are endowed to us by our Creator and are inalienable: rights to life, liberty, and property." p. 17.
Monarchist, thy name is Republican. The correct quote is from the Declaration of Independence of the Thirteen Colonies(July 4, 1776): "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness". It says nothing about a right to property, and neither does the US Constitution.
"We will draw on the expertise of today’s successful managers and entrepreneurs in the private sector, ... to build real-world competence and accountability into government procurement and operations." p. 18.
You mean Cheney's pals in the privatization of government will sit back and work for free? Whoopee. Most Americans do not realize that under Bush II the federal bureaucracy is mostly staffed with expensive private contractors who work for companies whose motive is profit, not patriotism. McShame wants more of this outsourcing of patriotism.
"Comprehensive [Social Security] reform should include the opportunity to freely choose to create your own personal investment accounts which are distinct from and supplemental to the overall Social Security system." p. 19.
Thief, thy name is Republican. Add another level of bureaucracy to retirement benefits, and this new one will be under the authority of private investment trusts who are not subject to federal oversight, like hedge funds. Retirees will be free to lose every penny of their life-savings to fraudsters and market "corrections". McShame gets much dinero from the speculators. Let the robbery begin.
Medicare will be privatized. p. 19. We must trust the profit-motivated private sector to supply health care to old people.
"Judicial activism is a grave threat to the rule of law because unaccountable federal judges are usurping democracy, ignoring the Constitution and its separation of powers, and imposing their personal opinions upon the public. This must stop." p. 20.
Same party line I've heard for fifty years. It is OK for GOP judges to usurp democracy by awarding the presidency to an unlawful Bush II in 2000. Bush II is allowed to ignore the law with signing statements. McShame supports the monarchical ambitions of Bush II. We shall have more of the same under McShame.
"Jurists nominated by a Republican president will be thoughtful and open-minded, always prepared to view past error in light of stare decisis, including judicial fiats that disenfranchised the American people." p. 20.
I believe this is Federalist Society code-talk for overthrowing the last hundred years of civil rights legislation, including voter rights and equal protection.
"We support efforts by state and local election officials to ensure integrity in the voting process and to prevent voter fraud and abuse, particularly as it relates to voter registration and absentee ballots." p. 21.
Code-talk for voter suppression.
"We believe government should tax only to raise money for its essential functions." p. 23.
Yes, McShame's Republicans actually wrote that incredible lie. I guess the crux of the statement is the word "essential". The Bridge to Nowhere was essential for the Republicans (Palin) of Alaska. Anyone who can read a book should be able to figure out that Republicans are taxation hypocrites. They can always find billions for the weapons industry or corporations, but not one dime for poor people. It follows their hatred of the downtrodden, but their stingy skinflint outlook only makes the mass of Americans less well off, increasing their misery.
Make permanent the gigantic tax reduction for the super rich. p. 24. Seems fair to most millionaires, who pay less taxes than people making $50K p.a., but I cannot abide this class warfare taxation policy aimed at poor people.
"High tax rates discourage thrift by penalizing the return on savings and should be replaced with incentives to save." p. 24.
Since when were rich people like McCain and his heiress wife worried about saving? The old man cannot even remember how many properties he owns, nor tell us how many servants work in these palaces of his.
"Our approach to regulation — basing it on sound science to achieve goals that are technically feasible — will protect against jobkilling intrusions into small businesses." p. 26.
Deregulation, the code-word for allowing business to poison workers and consumers with toxic products, like lead-painted toys, etc.
"...removing outdated distinctions between full time and part time, clock-punching and overtime." p. 26.
No more OT. Work till you drop. These hateful Republicans take the master/servant laws very, very seriously. In this life one is either a master or a servant, according to the rich Republicans. Be thankful to the master and tip your hat, you filthy shit.
"We do not support government bailouts of private institutions." p. 28.
LMAO. What has the Bush FDIC been up to the last year, bailing out failed banks? How about the investment companies and financiers who just got bailed out by Uncle Sam? And now the biggest bailout in the history of the universe: Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will be absorbed by the Bush II federal government, in light of the worst mortgage market in 70 years!
