Friends,
This is Grant from the Matthew 25 Network.
We're pleased to announce today that we are releasing a new radio ad featuring Tony Hall. We are starting local christian radio ads in swing-states, starring local community leaders, and Rep. Hall's is the first. These ads only cost $35 bucks a spot. We can saturate Ohio Christian radio for only a few thousand dollars - $15,000 to cover the state for a week. The Obama Campaign is not up on Christian Radio... so this is it folks. Matthew 25 is alone in the markets.
Born in Dayton, Ohio, Hall represented his hometown in Congress from 1979 to 2002, after which he was appointed Ambassador to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization. He retired from that post in 2005, and has since been working toward the peace process in the Middle East.
In this ad, Mr. Hall talks about why he, as a person of faith, supports Barack Obama for President - that Sen. Obama embodies the words of Jesus in Matthew 25:
[Jesus said:]
"Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'
"Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'
"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'
Matthew 25:34-40
Families all across America are struggling right now as our country falls on hard economic times - struggling to find or keep work, struggling to pay the bills, struggling to project hope and opportunity to their children. Barack Obama is committed to making life better for all families by making health care affordable, by rewarding companies who hire Americans instead of rewarding companies that ship jobs overseas, and by cutting taxes for middle-class and working-class families.
We're hoping to run this ad as many times as we can on Christian radio stations in Ohio - hoping to reach Christians who are fed up with the Dobson/Palin version of Christianity and looking for an alternative. It costs an average of $35 to run a radio ad once - so your contributions can go a long way!
Please make a donation to the Matthew 25 Network and help us run this ad on Christian radio.
I think it is worth noting that there is a large block of Christian Radio listeners who are not "Christian Conservatives." There are swing evangelicals. And, many many people who go to main-line Churches also enjoy Christian Radio. In fact, here at my Presbyterian Seminary, you begin to hum any Christian Music song...and you'll likely find most folks know all the words. This is a market we should be advertising in. We can make a difference here. Christian Radio listeners are not two-issue voters. Their top issue is the economy, which this ad highlights. We need your help... to air these ads. Let's fill the Ohio Christian Radio Waves.
