If John McCain suspended his campaign to help resolve the financial crisis, you would think that he might be a part of the late night negotiations occurring tonight.
But check out this nugget of info from an AP story:
McCain did not participate in late-night negotiations on Capitol Hill but worked the phones from his Virginia home.
Let's get this straight. The crisis is so severe that John McCain needs to suspend his campaign. But as the negotiations go on, John McCain is hanging out at one of his 7 houses!
Ok, maybe he puts country first only if it is before his bedtime.
But even during daylight hours, McCain was MIA today:
As McCain returned to Washington at midday, Democratic and Republican negotiators emerged from a closed-door meeting to report an agreement in principle. An Obama campaign official said the Illinois senator called into the meeting. McCain spokesman Brian Rogers said McCain didn't participate, but held talks with Republican leaders afterward.
There is one candidate who put country first today. And his name is Barack Obama.
I think McCain did not stick around for the negotiations he suspended his campaign to be involved in because he probably wants a good night's sleep before a debate he is pretending to blow-off.
I have an idea for the negotiators burning the midnight oil tonight.
Make a 3AM phone call to John McCain to give him an update. I'm sure he'll appreciate it. Country First, you know?
